Rendezvous with Sunita Williams
Students of Astronomy Club got the opportunity of a life time when they met world renowned astronaut Sunita Williams on 27th February 2016. It was a great experience for them to learn about her adventures in space. The interactive session made them aware of the essential requirements to pursue this profession. It was inspiring interaction which will enable the students to explore more in life and never give up. Her words "Let your imagination be as wide as space" left an everlasting impression on the minds of young ones.
Visit to NSIT Campus
In order to reinforce the scientific temperament, a visit to NSIT Campus, Dwarka was organised for the students on 30th January 2016. Prof. Dhananjay V. Gadre and his team trained them on Arduino, an open-source electronics platform. It was indeed a very fruitful workshop for students where they got a first hand experience of developing prototypes.
Picnic @ Eco Adventure Park
A fun-filled excursion was organised for the students to Eco Adventure Park in Najafgarh on 30th January 2016. Students had a gala time enjoying the activities ranging from camel ride, tractor and bullock cart ride. They also engaged in some real adventure like wall climbing, rappelling, walking on Burma bridge to name a few. They got the taste of rural India and enjoyed sumptuous food that was served. It was great to see them shaking their legs on the latest bollywood numbers.
Twenty one students and two teachers from KIIT World School, Pitampura visited the Parliament House on 17th December 2015. They witnessed the proceedings in the Lok Sabha and got a firsthand experience of the functioning of democratic set up which they have been studying inside their classrooms or through text books only. They observed the process of discussions through which a Bill becomes an Act.
The students witnessed audio-visual freedom struggle of India and its 2020 future plans. Rock edicts, miniature model of the Parliament, interactive shows, and display of democratic heritage, antique election procedures, Buddhist Council, Akbar and Ashoka’s rule, freedom movement, transfer of power and Unity in diversity were different sections studied by the students. Moreover, the recognitions and awards received by the honourable speakers and other members of the Parliament inspired all of them. Jawahar Lal Nehru’s speech on midnight of 14– 15 August 1947 was also showcased in his original voice in a set up where students were sitting with replicas of eminent personalities of that central hall meeting.
Overall, it was an informative and interactive visit for all. We hope to have such more visits in the near future.
VISIT TO AIR FORCE MUSEUM
An excursion was organised for the students of class VIII to Air ForceMuseum, Delhi Cantt. on 8th August and 13th August 2014 in association with Times NIE. It was an enthralling experience for the students to visit there and gather useful information.
